Patsy Knight Cox, 85, beloved mother and the widow of Reneldo Jack “Shorty” Cox, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, February 1, 2021, at her residence.
Mrs. Cox was born the daughter of William Patrick Knight and Winnie Haselden Knight on January 4, 1936, in Williamsburg County. She was born the fifth child of nine siblings: William Knight, Iris Newton, Earl Knight, Sybil K. Brooks, Cynthia K. Hardee, Sylvia Knight, Wallace “Buddy” Knight, and Janie Isabell K. Howard.
She was a 1954 honors graduate of Andrews High School. She was a former administrative secretary for Oneita Industries and Poston Logging & Machinery; and was the owner and operator of H&T Dry Cleaners. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, and baking. Her greatest love and enjoyment was spoiling her grandchildren, especially Heather. She was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church.
Patsy and Shorty were married on June 25, 1954, and celebrated 54 years together. Their home was blessed with three children, Jack Edward Cox, Patricia C. Walters (Rev. Lee), and Bobby R. Cox (Carol); seven grandchildren, Heather Lambert (Larry), Dustin Cox (Chandler), Tracy Howard (Brian), Stacy Goins (Dwayne), Jason Walters (Katelin), Ashley Avant (Ken) and Patrick Walters; seventeen great-grandchildren, Luke Lambert, Kylee Lambert, Taylor Howard, Tucker Howard, Makenzie Goins, Haleigh Goins, Camie Samson, Caden Walters, Jude Walters, AnLee Avant, Lydia Avant, Evie Avant, Parker Walters, Sullivan Walters, Taegan Cox, Dax Cox, and Lake Cox.
She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia K. Hardee (Carl).
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Ashley LeAnn Walters Avant; and her seven siblings.
A Home Going Celebration will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Pine Crest Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jack Mobley, Rev. Eddy Knight, and Rev. Carl Hardee. Internment will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Cox family will receive family and friends 6-8PM, Tuesday evening, February 2, 2021 in the sanctuary of Pine Crest Baptist Church.
