Murry Henry Babin died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Gonzales at the age of 83. A native of Bluff Settlement near Dutchtown, he was a resident of New Orleans for 42 years while employed at Shell Oil Co. before retiring to Ascension Parish in 1986. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. A veteran of World War II, he participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

Survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred "Millie" Landry Babin; a brother, Curtis "Kye" Babin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley and Sterling Diez; plus a host of nephews and nieces in the Babin and Diez families.

Preceded in death by his parents, Louis E. and Juliette M. Babin Babin; brothers, Fellman, Villar, Ira Paul, Joseph "Dee" and Harold; sisters, Inez Achord, Louise Ficklin, Vee Bourgue, Loney Kling and Maude Harelson.

Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville, until Mass. Burial will follow in Prairieville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses or donations to a charity of choice. Ascension Funeral Home, Gonzales, is in charge of arrangements.
