Lorene Eakin Wright, age 100, of Crockett, went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2021 at Winfield Nursing Home. Lorene was born August 13, 1920 in Austonio to parents, W. B. “Bill” Nettles and Emma Erwin Nettles. She graduated from Austonio High School in 1938 and later completed her certification as a licensed Vocational Nurse. Lorene worked several years at the Crockett Clinic before working as Dr. Delbert Brown’s office nurse, until her retirement. After retirement she worked at Bakers Nursing Home, now Houston County Nursing Home, for several years. Lorene loved working in her yard and truly loved her grandchildren. She was lovingly known as “Granny” to her grandchildren, but was known as “Sister” to the rest of the family and most of the Austonio community. Lorene was a member of First Baptist Church in Crockett.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Emma Nettles; husbands, Euel Eakin, Johnny Wright; son, David Eakin; sisters, Wilma Vaden, Betty Hester, Elizabeth Jackson Foster; brother, Billy Kenneth Nettles; sister-in-law, Dorothy Nettles; brothers-in-law, Albert Hester, Tommie Vaden, Ralph Jackson, Lee Foster, Carlos Michel, Billy Allbright and Ron Tullos.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at Evergreen Memorial Park, Dr. Keeney Dickenson officiating. The family request that everyone in attendance for the service wear a mask and practice social distancing.
