Don was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Regina Beck Wallace; his son, Robert; his daughter, Sharon; his brothers, Leroy and Leon; his sisters, Nettie, Alberta and Lillian.
Don proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, aboard the USS Dale W. Peterson, destroyer escort.
He married his sweetheart shortly after his service was complete on April 27, 1946. They initially resided in Troy, New York before buying their home in Colonie, New York, where they lived for many years before moving to the Rochester, New York area.
Don was able to enjoy an early retirement from Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, was an active member of the Moose Lodge, and loved spending time at his camp in the Adirondack mountains, playing cards, shooting pool, and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Donald Leroy Wallace (Beverly) of West Henrietta, New York; his grandchildren, Michael Ward Wallace of Rochester, New York, Shelli Wallace Johnson (Joseph) of Willow Park, Texas, Jen Cody (Hunter Foster) of New York, New York, Mark Cody of Rochester; four great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; numerous nieces and nephews.
Don will be laid to rest with his wife and two children at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Schenectady, New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Episcopal Church Home 505 Mount Hope Avenue Rochester, New York 14620.
