Frank Potter Ballou, son of Myron S. and Martha Ann Potter Ballou, was born in West Hallock October 31, 1866, and passed away in his home in Dunlap November 22, 1958, at the age of 92 years, being the oldest resident of Dunlap.
In 1874, his family moved from West Hallock to Dunlap. Most of his life was spent in the Dunlap community.
October 24, 1888, he was united in marriage to Clara E. Clark and they had just recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
To this union, five children were born, Marion passing away in infancy, and his twin sister, Marie in 1916, and a son Harry in 1961. Two grandchildren, Janet and Roy Jr., and his only sister, Mae, also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Roy, of Rome, Ill., and Robert of Oscaloosa, Iowa; two grandchildren; Steve and Jim; two cousins; and several nieces and nephews.
He was an honorary member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and a charter member of the Dunlap Volunteer Fire Company.
He was devoted to family and home, interested in young people and in all activities of the Dunlap community.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Schreiner Mortuary with Rev. Richard C. Mader in charge. Burial took place in the Prospect Cemetery. Pallbearers were William Andrews, A. Sloan, Roy Richmond, Melvin Hoffman, Newell Livingston and Harry Stiegele.
