Henry Keller was the youngest of five sons of George Keller & Barbara Hottel. The two-story farmhouse he built about 1804 near Toms Brook, Virginia, still stands--photo at right, and is now owned by the Hottel-Keller family association. Henry married first on April 5, 1782 to Margaret Snapp (circa 1760-1817), daughter of Lawrence Snapp & Margaret Stephens; 11 children: Lawrence, Barbara, Margaret, Henry Keller II (see his listing), Mary, John Henry, Elizabeth, Philip, Abraham, Susan Catherine, and Jacob Keller.

Henry's wife Margaret died about 1817, and on September 5, 1818, he married a neighbor, Barbara Mary "Mary" Snarr, daughter of Stephen Didawick and widow of Henry Snarr.
