James Bryant Garrison, 94, of Albemarle, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. He was the son of the late John Bryant and Meta Stuart Gardner Garrison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Oleta Dale Payne Garrison, stepson, Douglas Powell, sisters, Ruth Burger and Ruby Carpenter.

He is survived by his stepson Harold Payne of Palmyra, stepdaughters; Gloria Wood and Brenda Dillard, both of Crozet; brothers; Henry Garrison of Earlysville and Jerry Garrison of Charlottesville, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many much-loved nieces and nephews.

James was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Masonic Lodge #127 and a Ruritan. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and NASCAR fan. He loved spending time on the Outer Banks with family and friends. James was an independent building contractor.

A graveside service for family will be held at 2 pm on Thursday January 7, 2021 at the Beaverdam Baptist Church cemetery. Masks and Social distancing will be required.

Memorial gifts in his memory may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church at 1794 Richmond Rd, Troy, VA 22974, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of your choice.
