He was a retired farmer and self-employed concrete finisher. Johnnie professed faith in Christ and attended Elk Horn United Methodist Church. He loved to tell jokes and riddles and was always laughing and had a smile for everyone he saw. Johnnie was a caring and a great person and was ready to help anybody in need.
Johnnie united in marriage to Onia Hoosier Goode April 3, 1964.
Besides his wife, Onia Abell of Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons and three daughters: Regena Russell and husband, Richard, Brenda Callahan and Ernie Abell of Campbellsville, Johnnie Ray Abell of Columbia and Kathy Kingdollar of Tennessee; one daughter-in-law, Lawanna Abell of Campbellsville; four grandchildren: Lisa Pyles of Shelbyville, Benjamin Callahan, Amanda Kelley and Willie Abell of Campbellsville; one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law: Bradley Hoosier and Zelma Lotter of Campbellsville; several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Johnnie was also preceded in death by two sons: Gregory Abell and Eddie Abell; two brothers and one sister: Edward Abell, William Ray Abell and Lucille Blair and two sons-in-law: Billy Ellis and Michael Callahan
