"Ellen was born on October 12th, 1917 in Cando, North Dakota to Arthur and Beatrice Ingle given the name Ellen Matilda Ingle. She was the oldest of five siblings. Ellen married Theodore (Ted) Gores on May 14th, 1937 in the Brethren Church in Cando, North Dakota. She traveled the following week with her parents, siblings, and new husband in a small car from North Dakota to Wenatchee, WA. They lived the rest of their lives in the Pacific Northwest.
She lived through both World Wars and the Great Depression. She even worked as a riveter for the Boeing Company, through 1945, making $1.105 an hour. She worked in her parents small grocery store as apple packer in 1950. She did the bookkeeping for her husband's construction company and because of her growing family she became a homemaker for the rest of her life. Among her many gifts – painting, flower arranging, cake decorating, a wonderful cook, square dancing, bowling and enjoyed entertaining in her home. Blessed with four children. The first one born in 1938 and the last in 1956. They were busy with kids in the house for over thirty eight years. In their later years they traveled a lot even becoming snow birds. We had to check the calendar so we knew what they were doing.
Mom was a very active person and had a very full life. From Foresters, church, card parties, garden parties, painting classes, bible study, ladies circles, just to list a few.
Proceeded in death by her parents, four siblings, her spouse of 60 years Ted Gores, oldest daughter Darlene K. White.
She is survived by: her children, Bonita Vordahl (Vaughn), Pamela Edge (William), and Gerald Gores (Jill) and her son-in-law Howard White. Five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She is being laid to rest beside her loving husband of 60 years on her 100th birthday.
She and daddy are back together now. Rest in loving peace, mom.
