Sister Rose Mary Abbick, SS.C.M., age 77, passed away at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart on Saturday. She was born on May 25, 1914. Her first Profession was May 4, 1936, and her final Profession was August 15, 1941. Sister was the Principal and Superior at the Holy Trinity School in Gary. She was the first girls principal at Andrean High School from 1959 to 1969. Sister was also principal from 1969 to 1978 at the St. Cyril Academy. She returned to Andrean to teach religion from 1980 to 1992. Sister taught in New Jersey, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Indiana. She had a Masters Degree in Theology from Marquette University and was a moderator with the Andrean Clown Troupe.

Sister was survived by two sisters, Josephine Simmons of Kansas City, Kansas, and Veronica Deck of Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Anna Abbick, two brothers, Father John Abbick S.J. and Charles Abbick, and sister, Sister Philomena Abbick, SS.C.M.

Visitation was held on Monday evening at the Stilinovich & Wiatrolik Funeral Home in Merrillville. Funeral services were Thursday evening at the St. Andrews Church in Merrillville. Memorial gifts were suggested be made to the Retired Sisters in Danville, Pennsylvania, or to the Andrean High School Fund.
