On January 5, 1956 in North Judson, he married the love of his life Ella Kathryn Jacobs, spending 64 wonderful years together. He was a 20-year Veteran of the US Air Force, founder of the Gospel Lighthouse Academy, and Pastor of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Knox. He received his Doctorate of Divinity from Wesleyan College.
Gerald is survived by his wife Ella Kathryn of Knox; four sons Ernest (Diana) Allen of Canton, MI, Gerald W. Allen of Knox, William (Cristy) Allen of Knox, and Christopher (Darlene) Allen of Knox; two daughters Anita (John) Lasanowski of North Judson and Karen Lehiy of Plymouth; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one additional family member Colin Farris; and two brothers Floyd (Anna) Allen of Knox and Dan (Jean) Allen of Knox. He is preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, and eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at Noon CST Thursday, December 17 at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Knox. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday December 16 from 5:00 to 8:00 CST and from 11:00 until the time of the funeral on Thursday, all at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Knox. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Knox Gospel Lighthouse Church. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic mandates, the proper use of face masks and social distancing is required.
