Iris Iona Knight, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Knight, was born in Jefferson county, Iowa, February 6, 1876. She moved with her parents to Ringgold county when she was three years old. Here she grew to womanhood. On October 22, 1923, she was united in marriage to Wm. L. Hosford. To this union were born two children, Mildred Louisa and Naomi LaVella. The latter preceded her mother in death in 1902. In 1907 she moved with her husband to St. Joseph, Mo., where she resided until her death which took place January 16th at the home of her sister, Mrs. Richard Johnson. She was 48 years, eleven months and six days old. When she was fifteen years old she united with the Church of Christ at Delphos, Iowa. She leaves to mourn her loss the husband, one daughter, two grandchildren, four sisters and six brothers beside many other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at Middle Fork church conducted by Rev. Ross Williams, pastor of the Church of Christ in Mount Ayr.
