Birdena D. “Wendy” Pearce, 71, of Monterey, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. She was born on October 30, 1949 in Monterey, IN to the late Earl I. and Clara V. (Gilsinger) Walters. Birdena was a 1968 graduate of Monterey High School. On January 11, 1978, she married William E. “Bill” Pearce in Sacramento, CA. He passed away on December 7, 2001.

Birdena worked for the Social Security Administration her entire life. She worked in Virginia and California before returning home to Indiana.

Birdena was a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Monterey. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at Community Services of Starke County. Birdena also enjoyed her cats, playing BINGO and going to the boat. Most of all, she loved her family and friends very much. Birdena cherished her trips to California to visit her family.

She is survived by one stepdaughter; two step-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother-in-law; three sister-in-laws; and many nieces and nephews. Birdena was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Timothy Pearce; and ten siblings - Jean Napierkowski. Lorraine Rosenau, John Walters, Ralph Walters, Jerry Walters, Karen Floyd, Donald Walters, Stanley Walters, Mary Walters and Billy Walters.

Private graveside services and burial will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Winamac, IN with Rev. Daniel Shine officiating.
