Sarah Ida was the daughter of Martin Van Buren and Susan Ann Reed Moore.

She married William Sherman Southern 9-10-1885 in Blackburn Washington Co. Arkansas.Children were Susie Sarah,Albert V.,Zada,Magaline,Lula,Dessie,Atha,James Dewey,Ora,Claude,Fanny Betty and Flora Mae Southern.All the child were born in the Blackburn area.

Sarah Ida was well known for her quality baskets. She made the baskets from second growth white oak.The baskets were the main cash flow for the family.Money was very tight during this time period in the Ozark Mountains.
