Shirley was a resident of Picayune for 30 years. She attended Byram high school, where she was a cheerleader and basketball player. She enjoyed shopping and dancing. Shirley was extremely outgoing, made friends easily, loved flowers, plants, and an avid gardener. She enjoyed cooking for holidays, playing bingo and puzzles. She was loved and will be missed by many.
She is survived by one son, Terry “Randy” King (Patricia); one daughter, Shirleen King Landry (Doug); grandchildren, Natasha Smith, Jessica Woods, Andrew Walters; great-grandchildren, Courtney Frederick, Zachary Ware, Zoe Ware, Lawson Smith, Evan Carr, Kaylee Carr, and Haidyn Davis; one great-great- grandchild, Jade Beech.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Douglas Smith; parents, R.C. Alford and Josie Alford; two brothers, Robert Alford and Malcom Alford; sisters, Ruby Wallace, Aylene Moore, Mae Hannis, Sis O’Flarty, Mildred Allbriton, and Dot Elam.
A public graveside service will be held at New Palestine Cemetery, Friday, December 18, 2020, at 10:00 a.m.
