Susan was born August 11, 1918 in the Fisher Branch area to Cornelia and Gysbertus Vandersteen. She attended school in Marble Ridge and Laval and then helped out on the family farm before working away in Winnipeg and Brandon at McKenzie Seeds.
She married Armand Bouchard in 1948 and together they worked long hours building up their farming operation and raising their six children. She spent many hours sewing, knitting and tending to her flowers. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family.
She will be sadly missed by her children Valerie, Donald (Jeanette), David, Laura, Louise (Paul), and Gerry (Phyllis); her grandchildren Joe (Amanda), Gwene (Neal), James (Pam), Jason (Amy), Kristen (Kevin), Jenelle (Kevin), Jordan (Angela), Keri, Jaclyn (Robbie), Justin (Patricia), Mickeal, and Alexander.
She is also survived by her sister Bertha and numerous relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Cornelia and Gysbertus, her husband Armand, brothers Jack, Case, Bert and Tony Vandersteen.
Prayers will be held on Monday, August 29 at 8:00 p.m. at the Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, August 30 at 11:00 a.m. also at the church.
The family would like to thank the Home Care Co-ordinator, Donna Lindal, Dr. Arara and all of the staff of the E. M. Crowe Hospital in Eriksdale for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Fisher Personal Care Home.
