At an early age he joined Rockwell A.M.E. Zion Church. Larry attended North Mecklenburg High School, where he graduated. He served 8 years in the United States Military. In the late 70's and 80's he was part of the Derita Blazers—he loved baseball. He had a love for cars and loved collecting movies. In his spare time, he loved to sit in his "Man Cave" and watch westerns. He loved going to the mountains and taking walks in the afternoon. One of his favorite foods was fish—he loved a good hot piece of fish. He was always a hard worker and enjoyed driving for O'Reilly Auto Parts.
He was preceded in death by his brother, George Baker.
