History - Caleb's progenitors were Baptists and Quakers, very spiritual people. After his marriage to Keturah. They made their home in Freehold, Greene, New York, where their first two children were born. They then moved to Windham, Green, New York, where they lived many years.
Caleb was a successful farmer and he and his family were well educated. His son Isaac and wife, were converted to the Church in 1843. Then Caleb and his family were baptized. They moved to Nauvoo where his wife died.
In February 1846, when the Saints started west, Caleb and his family joined them and went as far as Winter Quarters where they wintered. He came to Utah, 22 September 1847, in the Daniel Spencer Company.
After their arrival in the Valley, Caleb and his family spent the first winter in the fort. In the spring of 1848 they moved to Farmington, Utah. Caleb engaged in farming and stock raising.
