George W. Sparrow was born May 25, 1823 in Perryville, Kentucky and died Feb. 6, 1908, at the age of 84 yrs. In 1845 he married Nancy Thorp in Kentucky, who died, leaving him with six small children, two of whom, Mrs. William Williams and Mrs. Henry Curry, both of Darlington survive him.
He removed to Darlington while his children were small. In 1874 he was married to Nancy J. Langford, who died leaving him and two daughters, Mrs. John McWilliams of Darlington and Mrs. John Wright of Iowa. Beside the four daughters, Mr. Sparrow leaves 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. All were present at the funeral, which was held the 7th, and the remains were buried in Union Grove cemetery.
