Clazina Kooiman, 78, of Rock Valley, IA, died Friday, October 9, 2020, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16, at 11:00 AM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. The service can be audio-streamed at https://edge.mixlr.com/channel/rwkcn. Private family burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Public visitation, with no family present, will be held Thursday, October 15, from 2:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Clazina Wilhelmina Kooiman, daughter of Henry and Clazina (Fluit) Hoefakker, was born January 24, 1942, on the family farm near Rock Valley, IA. She married William Kooiman on June 27, 1960. The couple lived in Rock Valley their entire married life. Bill died November 9, 2014.

Clazina was a lifetime member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. She worked at K-Products, Tyson Foods, Rock Valley Community School, and she also had an in-home daycare. Clazina loved gardening, quilting, scrapbooking, and being outdoors. She was very welcoming and enjoyed having people in her home. In addition, Clazina enjoyed going out to eat and playing games with her special circle of friends. She will be fondly remembered as Zena to her friends and family.

She is survived by six children, Connie (Randy) Schmidt of Beresford, SD, Brenda (William) Laman of Rock Valley, IA, Jane (Jeff) Stanton of Shawnee, KS, Bill (Michele) Kooiman of Olathe, KS, Cyndi (Jason) Priest of Round Rock, TX and Kristi Kooiman (Ryan Bowes) of Raymore, MO. She dearly loved her grandchildren, Lacey Schmidt (Jeff Berg), AJ Schmidt (Breanne Benstead), Adam Schmidt, Will (Lauren) Laman, Matt (Autumn) Laman, Ashley Laman, Brittany Laman, Caitlin Laman, Sydney Stanton, Jessica Stanton (John Pittala), Lauren Stanton, Joseph (Krista) Lynch, Megan Lynch, Gavyn Priest, and Carter Priest; 3 great-grandchildren, Owen Laman, Miles Laman, and Emilia Lynch; 2 brothers, Henry (Arlene) Hoefakker and Teunis (Ruth) Hoefakker; special sister-in-law, Clarice (Bart) Elshout; 2 brothers-in-law, Len (Trudy) den Hoed and Gene (Martha) Fauth; 4 sisters-in-law, Mina DeBruin, Jennie Maassen, Rhonda Kooiman, and Evelyn Redden; and many special nieces and nephews.

Clazina was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Kooiman; parents, Henry and Clazina Hoefakker; 2 sisters, Wilmina Van Beek and Angeline den Hoed; 4 sisters-in-law, Gertrude Fauth, Corneal Lusk, Elaine Stevens, and Joyce Kooiman; and 6 brothers-in-law, Gerald Van Beek, Pete DeBruin, Marinus Maassen, Ronald Kooiman, James Kooiman, and Dennis Kooiman.
