Charles Woodman, 76, Found Dead Near Pit
Doniphan, Neb., May 19 - Charles L. Woodman, 76 year-old farmer residing two and a half miles northwest of here, was found dead in the water and near the bank of an old sandpit adjacent to his farm, early Friday afternoon. Death, a physician said was caused directly by a cerebral hemorrhage.
Mr. Woodman had gone to the pit to fish and was evidently stricken while standing on the bank. The physician said he probably died instantly. The hemorrhage was caused from higth blood pressure and hardening of the arteries.
The body was found by a son, C. L. Woodman, and two neighbors, John Graham and Freeman Cole, who went to the pit about fifteen minutes after Mr. Woodman had left the house. County Attorney William Mullen, who was called, said no further investigation would be necessary.
Surviving are the widow, Emma Woodman, the son C. L., of Doniphan and two daughters, Mrs. Grace Beers, Doniphan, and Mrs. Edna Cole, North Platte. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, from the Methodist church in Doniphan with Rev. Leavitt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan cemetery.
