Charles W. "Wes" Barger, 86, of Clearfield, PA died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at his home.

Born June 18, 1919 in Woodland, he was the son of Newton J. and Lulu M. (Davis) Barger.

He was employed as a miner of coal and clay for over 25 years and retired after 11 years of service as a draftsman from PennDot.

He was a member of the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Clearfield, a member and past president of the Hobby & Garden Club, a member of the Woodland Area Senior Citizens and a former member of the Bradford Grange. He was a WW II US Army Veteran having served in the European Theater.

He is survived by his wife Levoy M. (Lytle) Barger whom he married November 21, 1941 in the Woodland EUB Church, three sons: Charles W. Barger and his wife Dorothy of Lake Worth, FL, Arnold W. Barger of Milesburg, PA and Wilbur G. Barger and his wife Karen of Woodland and a daughter Michele L. Solomon McCormack and her husband John "Jack" of Clearfield, four grandchildren: Terri Gamber, Michael Solomon, Melinda Haile and Robert Barger, eight great grandchildren and a sister Madeline Vermilyea of Harrisburg, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Newton Barger, Jr, two sisters Carrie Barger and Ella Mae Merrifield, two grandchildren Paul and Peter Barger and a son-in-law Mead D. Solomon.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Clearfield with Dr. Duane White and Minister Raymond Stiner officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. and on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of services. Military Honor's will be accorded at graveside by members of the Clearfield American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post's Honor Squad.

The family suggests that contributions be made to the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 56 Alliance Road, Clearfield, PA 16830 or to Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, PA 16830.
