Funeral services for Hazel Frances Howell, who died Thursday September 30, 1971 in Oklahoma City, were held on Sunday, October 3, 1971 at 2:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Baptist Church. Officiating for the services was Rev. Kern McMinn assisted by Rev. Albert Hill.

Born in Jasper, Iowa on December 2, 1903 to Richard S. Barker and Mary Ann Barrett Barker, she came to Reydon with her family in 1908. She was married to Joe Gilbert Howell at Cheyenne, Oklahoma on November 26, 1924. Following their marriage they had made their home at Mayfield, Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo.

Survivors include her husband of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Deal Ward of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Hershel Jenkins of Oklahoma City; five sisters, Vera Byers, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; Joe Sullenberger, Phoenix, Arizona; Edith Brown, Grimes, Oklahoma; Creda Miller, Texola; and Ruth Hughes, Los Alamos, New Mexico; five brothers, Fred Barker, Phoenix, Arizona; Ear Barker and Orville F. Barker, Reydon, Oklahoma; Glen Barker, Peach Springs, Arizona; and Arthur Barker, Durham, Oklahoma; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Villard Sanders, Gerald Tipton, C.B. Crook, A.J. Reed, Harold Coffey, and Thurston Coffey.

Burial was in the Buffalo Cemetery with the Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
