Jerry McKnight, age 80 of Cumberland, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. A native of Harlan County, he was born September 07, 1940 to the late Elmer and Ethel Smith McKnight. Jerry was a retired coal miner from U.S. Steel and Arch of Kentucky who loved to work with all types of wood and farming. He was a wonderful dad and grandfather to his family and friend.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Bob, Bill, Don, Carlos, David, Thelma, Gladys, and Wilma.
He will be forever cherished by his daughters, Cheryl (Chris) Dyer of Harrodsburg, KY, Geraldine Clifford of Lawrenceburg, KY, and Jerri (Scott) Fields of Cumberland; mother of his children, Helen Bailey of Cumberland; brother, Eddie (Debra) McKnight of Alabama; special uncle, Leonard McKnight of Cumberland; and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Tri City Funeral Home Chapel, 506 Holly Street, Benham, KY on Thursday, September 24, 2020, and Friday, September 25, 2020, between 6 – 8 pm each evening. Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2020, in the Chapel with Mike McKnight officiating. Interment will follow in the McKnight Cemetery, New York Section, Cumberland with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
