In 1930, Archie O. Albin, aged 59, an optician with his own store, was living at 127 Atlantic Avenue, Lynbrook, Nassau, New York, with his wife, Gertrude J. Albin, aged 57. Living with them was son-in-law, George Thomas, aged 26, the manager of an automobile agency, and daughter, Dorothy Thomas, aged 24.
Obituary - Albin - Archie O., 69, died yesterday (October 22, 1940) at his home, 127 Atlantic Avenue, Lynbrook, L.I. A member of an old Long Island family, he was born in Brookhaven, where his father, the late Robert F. Albin, operated a general store. He was educated at Patchogue High School and later studied optometry. For the last 30 years, Mr. Albin was manager of the E.B. Meyerowitz firm of opticians, at 520 5th Avenue, Manhattan. He was long active in civic matters and fraternal affairs here and served as president of the Lynbrook Board of Education for eight years. He was a member of the official board of St. James Church and Lynbrook Lodge of Masons. Surviving are his widow, Gertrude Jarvis Albin; two sons, Archer O. Jr., and Clayton J.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Thomas; also survived by one brother, R. Eugene Albin, of Center Moriches, and three grandchildren, Theodore R. Albin, Donald Overton Albin, and Nancy Jane Thomas. Services at Saint James Methodist Church, Lynbrook, Friday, October 25, at 8:30 p.m. Interment at Bellport Cemetery, Bellport, L.I., Saturday, October 26.
