Teddy Kenneth Payne, 93, a current resident of Harrison, TN passed away on Friday morning, August 28, 2020 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was born on July 22, 1927. Anticipation grew as they gathered at Heaven’s gates early the morning of Friday, August 28, 2020 to welcome our Uncle Ted (Teddy Kenneth Payne) home. He had just celebrated his 93rd birthday on July 22nd. Uncle Ted was well loved by all who were honored to know him and spend time with him. He always had a tale to tell to bring laughter, had a huge green thumb and was a generous man to all. His keen memory and stories of days gone by were such a treasure he shared with us so we got a true look into the life he had. He will be missed is an understatement. He was born and raised in Coker Creek, TN and moved to Cleveland 60 years ago. He retired in 1991 from Magic Chef after 29 years of service. Ted, until no longer able to attend, was attending New Liberty Baptist Church. He was a member of Long Ridge Baptist Church in Coker Creek, TN.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Allie “Mae”, his parents Gay & Rosa (Roberts) Payne, siblings Marion Payne, Beecher Payne, JC Payne, Dean Payne, Geneva (and Dewey) Massey, Dale Payne, Barbara Payne, Opal Payne, and Paul Payne.
He leaves behind to cherish his sweet memory, a host of nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Leota Payne, along with his nieces Gayla Massey Shelton & Sheila Massey Bennett who watched over him and spent many days with him in laughter and reminiscing stories.
We will celebrate his life on Saturday, September 12th at 11:00 am with a graveside service at Coker Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Coker Creek, TN. A dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
When we went and saw him on his 93rd birthday, we asked him for advice on how to live a good long life and his words were “Be nice to everyone…even those who don’t like you.”
“WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT…ENTER INTO THE JOY OF YOUR LORD.” Matthew 25:21
