Dale Bruce Payne, 78, of Cleveland, TN, died in peace surrounded by family on October 23, 2017.
The words "stubborn" and "strong" were frequently heard as his children spoke of him during his short hospital stay. He acquired these traits growing up in the mountains of Coker Creek, TN.
Gay and Rosa Payne, now deceased, had 10 children with 7 of them surviving birth. As a young man Dale moved to Cleveland, TN, where he worked 20+ years at Maytag. At the time of retirement, Dale worked as security guard at Advanced Photographic Solutions.
Dale is survived by two brothers, Ted Payne, of Cleveland, TN and Marion (Leota) Payne of Cleveland, TN; four daughters, Connie Morrison, Brenda Kelly, Marie Payne, all of Cleveland, TN, and Rhonda (Rodney) Mason, of Athens, TN; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his beloved Dodge Truck.
A remembrance of life service will be held at 6:00pm on Saturday October 28, 2017 at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW. The family will receive friends two hours prior, from 4:00 pm until the 6:00 pm service time at the funeral home.
