Mr. Kellen, 72, of Remsen died at the Sioux City Hospital Wednesday after a long illness.
There will be a service Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen. Officiating will be the Reverend Leroy Sentjens and the burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Rosary will be recited at the parish between the hours of 3-8 p. m. today and at 8'30 tonight by the Knights of Columbus at the Fisch Funeral Home.
Raymond was born on the 28th of September 1913, in rural Alton. His parents were William Felix and Anna (nee Mairose) Kellen. He was raised in the area and attended school in Alton and Granville. He came to Remsen about 1940 with his parents. He served in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1945. After serving his country during WWII, he came home and married Marian Bohnenkamp on the 30th of January 1946, in Remsen. The happy couple began life as farmers and continued until retiring in 1985.
Mr. Kellen was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen and the American Legion of LeMars Iowa.
Survivors include his wife Marian, 5 sons James of South Sioux City, Jerome of Crosby Tx., Daniel of Marion, Ronald and Kirk of Remsen, 3 brothers Robert, Vernon and Victor, 3 sisters Dorothy, Esther and Frances, plus 13 grandchildren
