From Holt & Holt Funeral Home:

Joyce "Oma" McCutchen passed away surrounded by family in her beloved Boerne home on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the age of 86. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Holt & Holt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 24, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Sisterdale Cemetery.

Joyce was a force from the moment she was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, in 1934 to parents Ernst and Elsie (Marquardt) Nagel. Not one to mince words, you quickly learned never to ask her a question you didn't want the answer to, and everything she said meant something. All who loved her will always remember what a beautiful, hard-working, and fun-loving woman she was.

In her early twenties, she traveled the world as a military wife and loved the many trinkets she picked up along the way. Later in life, she dedicated 22 years to working at Walmart until retirement in 2013. After retirement, she was most content sitting outside on her property, smelling her flowers, sipping wine, while surrounded by the family and friends she cherished so much. She was a lover of all holidays (ever see a 7 foot St. Paddy's Day tree?) and never met a string light she didn't have to have.

Joyce is survived by her sons, Don McCutchen and David (Lisa) McCutchen; and her sister, JoAna Kessler; as well as six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who all had the privilege to call her Oma.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; Ernst and Elsie Nagel; her brother, Carl Nagel; her sister, Diana Backer; and her grandson, David D. McCutchen.
