Danniel (sic) Elmer Arner passed away in Fairbury at a local hospital on Sunday, December 13, 1936, at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 25 days. He has been a resident of Fairbury for the past 30 years.
Daniel Elmer Arner was born at Hazelton in Lazerne County, Penn., on May 18, 1866, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elias Arner. His childhood was spent in Pennsylvania and there he attended school. When he was eleven years old, he moved with his parents to Johnson, Nebr., where they settled on a farm. Here he grew to manhood.
On July 3, 1886, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Schenk. They lived near Johnson until 1903 when they moved to the Farbury (sic) vicinity and have made their home here since then. To Mr. and Mrs. Arner, nine children were born all of whom are living. They are Mrs. Nora McLellan, Mrs. Tena Aasen, Mrs. W. O. Neilsen and Harry Arner all of Fairbury and vicinity. Elmer Arner of Reynolds, Daniel Jo Arner of Thompson, Ralph Arner of Scribner, Mrs. Daniel Jordon of Lincoln and Mrs. A. R. Homer of Beaver crossing. Mr. Arner is also survived by 21 grandchildren one sister, Mrs. Ada Simpson of Fort Collins, Colo.; and M. J. Arner of Shelby, Nebr., and Earl Arner of Gladstone, Nebr. All the children were present at the funeral.
On July 3, 1936, Mr. and Mrs. Arner celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at which all the children were present.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Presbyterian church. Dr. R. C. Shupe conducted the services. Interment was in the Fairbury cemetery. Traum service.
