Earl Arner, about 62, of Edgar, died about 9 o'clock Saturday morning, victim of a heart attack suffered while working at Frank Kenley's gravel pit 12 miles northeast of Nelson. He was helping Everett Price load a gravel truck at the time.

Funeral services were held in Edgar Tuesday at the Methodist church, with burial in Fairbury.

Fird Earl Arner

Fird Earl Arner was born at Odell, Nebraska, July 30, 1881, and died October 2, 1948, at the age of 67 years, two months and two days.

He was one of six children born to Elias Arner and Frances Ellen Dull Arner. He lived in Edgar in 1896, moving to Fairbury in 1897. He was married at Fairbury, Nebraska, in 1906 to Hulda W. Burgett. He operated a farm in Jefferson county (sic) until 1946 when he retired and moved to Edgar.

He is survived by his widow and daughter, Dorothy Virginia, of San Francisco, California.

Funeral services were held at the Edgar Methodist church (sic) Tuesday, October 5, 1948, with Rev. J. B. Rayborn in charge. Singers were Mrs. J. W. Cassell, Miss Twila Shaw, Mrs. Grace Kenley and Rev. Rayborn. Mrs. Rayborn accompanied at the piano.

Pallbearers were: Cecil Black, Everett Price, Edward Bottom, Floyd Kollman, D. A. Bates and Clifford Wilson.

Interment was made in the Fairbury cemetery (sic).

Clark Kinnison drove the widow and daughter's car to Fairbury.

Those from out-of-town attending the funeral were: Mrs. J. G. Hotchkiss, sister of Mrs. Arner, Mrs. Charles Goodyear, Mrs. Nona McClellan, Mrs. Tena Aasen and son, Harold and daughter, Helen, Mrs. Howard Haddix and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Dragoo of Gilead, Nebraska.
