Thomas Jefferson BAKER was born 10 November 1853 to Arthur Alpheus and Emily C. Whitehurst BAKER. Emily was the daughter of Daniel S. and Jincey Fletcher WHITEHURST. Thomas was a dentist making his home in Thonotosassa, Hillsborough County, Florida.

Thomas married (1) Mary Eliza RIGBY, dtr of Wade S. and Nancy Keziah Hagan RIBGY on 5 May 1876 in Hillsborough Co, Florida. Together they had nine children to wit:
