Ray King, age 83, passed away at his residence in Painesville, August 9, 2020. He was born July 7, 1937 in McMinnville, Tennessee to Robert and Mae King. Ray loved Country music and was an accomplished guitar player. His children and friends were what he loved most in the world. He was known as "Dad" or "Pa" to everyone; he treated everyone he knew as if they were family. His love and generosity knew no bounds.
Ray was a long-time resident of Painesville and was a Master Machinist at Eaton Corporation for many years as well as the former proud owner of King's Furniture in Painesville. He was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lillie “Mae” Cooley King. He is proceeded in death by his wife Maureen “GiGi” (Owens) King, son Tony King; grandsons Donovan Chase and Trevor King Sr.; brothers Avery, Ossie, Warnie, Orval King; sisters Inis Crowe and Jessie Watson.
Ray is survived by son Michael (Kimberley) King of Greenville South Carolina; daughters Debbie (Fred) Davidson of Chapin South Carolina; Michelle King; Denise King both of Bradenton Florida; granddaughter and caretaker for many years, Heather King of Painesville; grandchildren Leeann King,
Michael King, Kayla Davidson, Douglas Davidson, Matthew King, and Alexa (Nate) Weese. Great grandchildren Gavin King, Marissa Allen and Jaxon Davidson; Great-great grandson Trevor King Jr.; surviving brother Roy (Shirley) King, and sisters Opal Davis and Edna Campbell. He is also survived by special friend Betty Shelton; many nieces and nephews and Painesville friends and “family” whom he cherished. He will be greatly missed by all. Graveside services Friday August 14, 2020 at 1:00 Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the King family.
