Mama Maude Mae (Johnson) Gattis was loved by many. As a young lady, she played the organ in church. She loved music. When I visited her or she visited, she always wanted me to sing: D-i-v-o-r-c-e. Another special favorite song was: "Bad Moon Rising." The words of the song had great meaning to her. I can still vision her sitting in her rocking chair, rocking away, when someone sang. She also greatly enjoyed listening to her youngest son, Ben Gattis, sing. She was buried beside him at Forest Grove Cemetery, Tishomingo County. Uncle Ben (WW11 Veteran) was killed in an auto accident at age 39 while returning from a job in Nashville, Tennessee. He was dearly loved! Mama Maude, along with Uncle Ben, will always be loved and remembered.
