AGED JERSEYVILLE RESIDENT SUCCUMBS - 12-24-1931

Mrs. Elizabeth Rae Crone, widow of the late David Crone, well-known resident of Jerseyville, died at her home in Jerseyville Friday evening, December 18, at 9 p.m., following an illness of several months duration.
Mrs. Crone was born in Ballymena, County Antrim, Ireland, September 5, 1850, and at the time of her death was 81 years, 3 months and 13 days.
When eighteen years of age she came to America, arriving in Kane, Ill., on June 22, 1868. On July 4, 1868, she was married to David Crone of Kane, also a native of Ireland. To this union were born ten children, four sons and six daughters, eight of whom survive. She was preceded in death by two children and her husband.
For a number of years the family lived in Greene county and on September 13, 1900, moved to Jerseyville where they have since resided.
Shortly after her marriage she united with the Bethany Baptist church, later transferring her membership to the Jerseyville Baptist church where she remained a true worshipper until her affliction, the loss of her eyesight a few years ago. A very pronounced characteristic was a cheerful disposition even through the trying years of her affliction.
Mrs. Crone is survived by five daughters, Mrs. John Connors, Mrs. G.S. Hefner, and Miss Ethel Crone, all of Jerseyville, Mrs. David Halliday of Shipman and Mrs. M.M. Post of Kane, three sons, James N., A. Edward and Ernest D. Crone, all of Jerseyville, and fifteen grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Baptist church in this city Monday afternoon, December 21, at 2 o'clock, Rev. A.B. Carson officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
