Edwin Wilson, affectionately known as “Ol’ Man” was born on October 31, 1960 to the late Alfred McCoy Wilson and Mary Louise Wilson in Smithfield, VA. At the age of 59, Edwin transitioned on July 9, 2020 in Portsmouth, VA.

He attended Portsmouth Public Schools and worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Edwin was known for his stylish attire and joking spirit. He had a great love for others and was a generous giver. Edwin was a faithful member of Christian Antioch Church in Christ in Portsmouth, VA for 40 years, where he served as a Stewardess.

Edwin married Augusta Roberta “Berta” Long on April 25, 1987 and enjoyed 32 years of marriage. Out of their union, two daughters, Iesha Monique “Mo” Wilson and Ida Shana “Uzi” Wilson, were born. On November 26, 2014, Edwin became a grandfather and it was love at first sight when he met his beautiful granddaughter, Sarai Cali Stephens. Sarai called him “Papa” and enjoyed spending time with her grandfather.

As Edwin was from a family of 14 children, his love was great for all his sisters and brothers. Edwin and Edwina, his twin sister, had a very special bond that is often shared between twins. He truly loved being around his family. Edwin enjoyed listening to music, dancing, cooking, and watching Westerns on TV. Edwin spent enduring and fun times with his granddaughter Sarai, where he often took her to two of her favorite places – the park and Dollar Tree.
