SUFFOLK - Deaconess Mary Louise Thorne Wilson, 66, of the 2800 block of S. Nansemond Drive, died Jan. 8, 2003 in her daughter's residence.

She was born May 5, 1936 in Portsmouth and was the oldest daughter of the late Clifton and Gladys Thorne. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Christian Antioch Church, Portsmouth, and attended schools in Norfolk County.

She was the devoted wife of Alfred M. Wilson; devoted mother to her children: 11 daughters, Barbara J. Vines, Joyce McCoy (Lagus), Christine Wilson, Marion L. Franklin, Brenda Wilson, Karen Wilson, Edwina Wilson, Melanie Harrel (Anthony), Patrice Wilson, Cherise Conley and Vanessa Sharpe; three sons, Edwin Wilson (Berta), Stacy Wilson and Keith Wilson; a godson, Bobby Hines Jr.; goddaughters, Beverly Revell and Sharnisha McCoy; four sisters, Velma Bonney, Shirley Bunch, Francis Deloatch and Katherine Thorne; three brothers, Otis Batten, Ernest Thorne and Clifton Thorne; aunts, uncles, many many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, including a special niece, Annette Cannon, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Jesus Church of Deliverance, 5246 Jones Lane, Chesapeake, by Bishop Robert Windley. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and her body will be placed in the church Monday at 1 p.m. The family will be at 709 Bismark Myrick St. and will assemble there for the procession to the church. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
