Funeral Services for Walter "Slab" Sloan will be conducted Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Rev. David Perry officiating.
Interment will follow in the Black Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.
Walter was a native of Hancock County, but had lived in Milledgeville all of his life. He was born on March 2, 1939 to the late James Luther Sloan and the late Lucy Lena Carr Sloan.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughters, Deborah Crooms and Barbara Jean Sloan, his sisters, Sarah Horne, Shirley Ann Felder, Lucy Mae Alford, and Emmie Lee Reed, and by his brothers, James Luther Sloan and James Shelton Sloan.
He was a kind and gentle man, and willing to help anyone. He was a member of Black Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years, and sat in the same seat for over 50 years.
Walter is survived by: his son, Walter Sloan, Jr. (& Paula) of Milledgeville ; his grandchildren, Tiffany Freeman (& Daniel) of Milledgeville and Walter Neal Sloan ; his great grandchildren, Kameron Freeman, Cali Rose, and Ryleigh Grace ; and his sisters, Rosa Lee McCant and Martha Garner.
Williams Funeral Home and Crematory of Milledgeville is in charge of arrangements.
