Having excelled in typing and shorthand in high school, she worked as a church secretary and later received a degree in Management from Midland College. She worked in Houston as an executive assistant for Southern Pacific Railroad and later, Baylor College of Medicine. In 1989 she married Donald P. Amsden. After his retirement in Arlington, Texas they enjoyed traveling all over the world.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her grandson, James Robert “Jay” Bostwick III and his wife, Suzanne and grandson Brian Frank Bostwick and his wife, Genevieve. In addition, she is survived by three great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by Don’s children, Alice Inglis, Donna Haisler, Darrell Amsden and Sharron White and grandchildren.
She has three surviving siblings, two brothers, Jerry E. Jones and Ross L. Jones and a sister, Betty Jean Russell as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins!
Her burial will be in Goree Cemetery in Goree, Texas on Wednesday, July 15 at 10:30 am. Memorial contributions to her favorite charity Mission Arlington (First Baptist Church, Arlington, Texas) would honor her memory.
