Donald “Don” Preston Amsden died on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Fort Worth.

Service was Thursday, October 26, at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Center Street, Arlington with burial October 28, at Brookside Memorial Park, Houston.

Don was born on July 16, 1926 near Corpus Christi to William Nathaniel Amsden and Thelma Inez McDonald Amsden. He was raised in several towns in the nearby coastal area. Don earned degrees in both Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&I. He married the love of his life, Catherine Schonefeld, and they raised four children in Fort Worth. Don worked for Union Pacific Resources for 50 years.

After Catherine passed, he married Joy Ordener and embraced her daughter and family. He and his wife were active members for many years at First Baptist Church. Don was a member of the Dew Sweepers of Shady Valley Country Club. He enjoyed golf, camping and serving others.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Amsden; and grandson, Joshua Earl White.

Survivors in clyde his Wife, Joy Amsden; children, Alice Inglis and husband, Mark, Donna Haisler and husband, Dudley, Darrell Amsden and wife, Lisa, Sharron White and husband, Stephen, and Joy’s daughter, Janene Bostwick and husband, Bob; brothers, Billy Amsden and David Amsden; sisters, Betty Bull and Edith Larson; his 105 yr. old aunt, Louise Parker; grandchildren, Catherine, Patrick, Emily, Adam, Alex, William, Benjamin, Jay and Brian; and great-grandchildren, James and Anna Kate.
