Effie was born in Marmaros, Stone County, Missouri, as the 3rd child of William Allen "Allen" Hembree and Lillie May Logan. She lived in Branson, Missouri and in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She came back to Stone County to take care of her mother in her later years. She died at the age of 72 in Reeds Spring.
