Albert Ray Brownfield Sr., was born July 26, 1885, in Nolan County, Texas, to Marion Virgil Brownfield and Ann Elizabeth Hornbeck. He was of medium height, medium build, had blue eyes, and dark hair. He was married to Allie Doll Pyeatt in about 1909. They had two children, Marian and Albert Ray Jr. Albert was a stockman near Brownfield, Texas. They lived about six miles from town. When it came time for Albert Ray Jr to be born, a midwife drove a horse and buggy to the ranch to aid with his birth. Albert enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a LOYALTY RANGER on June 21, 1918 until February of 1919. Loyalty Rangers worked under cover and most people never knew what the ranger was doing. They were a Secret Service, working under the Hobby Loyalty Act for the State of Texas. Albert Ray Brownfield died July 29, 1963, in Brownfield, Terry County, Texas. He is buried in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery.
