Timothy was born in Conway, Horry County, South Carolina to Ezekiel Cooper and Sara Martha Magby. His siblings include; Aaron, Lucretia, Ezekiel, Noah, John and William.
He married Mary Harriet Beaty (also of Conway) in 1829 and had several children. They are; John Robertson Cooper, Louisa Beaty Cooper-Barnhill, Frances Elizabeth Cooper-Currie, Thomas Akin Cooper, Lewis Scarborough Cooper, Margaret Ellen Cooper, Isabella Caroline Cooper, Adeline Cooper, and Laura Jane Cooper.

He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Conway, Horry County, South Carolina for many years.
He died 23Aug1871 at his home and is buried in the church cemetery.

In Memory Of Timothy Cooper, born in Horry County, S.C. February 17, 1803, Died at his home in the same county, August 23, 1871, aged 68 years, 6 months, and 6 days. He was a worthy member of the M.E. Church for 45 years and has left the priceless inheritance of a spotless name to his family. He has gone to realize the promise which says "Bless the pure of heart for they shall see God".

Timothy was the son of Ezekiel Cooper and Sarah Magby. Timothy's wife (buried alongside him) was Mary Harriet Beaty, b. Dec. 28, 1802 in Horry Co., SC.-died 24 FEB 1884 in Horry Co., S. C. She was the dau. of John Beaty and Elizabeth Mary Prince.
