Nancy was the daughter of Jacob P. Garlock and Maria Dunckel. She married Friend Kenyon about 1821 in Canajohaire, Montgomery Co., NY. This union was blessed with eight children; Sylvester, Erastus, Jonas, Anna Maria, Menzo, Melissa E., George and Elizabeth J. Kenyon. All the children lived to be adults. However, she lived to see three of her sons buried. Her youngest son, George, died in the Civil War at the siege before Petersburg. Another son, Menzo, died of consumption in 1870. Her son Sylvester died of heart disease in Michigan in 1881.
