AGED MAN DEAD -- George Raudebaugh Had Been Invalid Since Childhood.
George Raudebaugh, aged seventy-one years, died Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. at the home of his sister, Mrs. Robert Locke, northeast of Hobbs, of spinal affliction. Mr. Raudebaugh has been an invalid since he was two years of age. At that time, an attack of spinal meningitis left him a cripple in his lower limbs, he never having been able to walk. He was born in Ohio seventy-one years ago and was the son of William {sic} Raudebaugh [FATHER WAS BENJAMIN RAUDEBAUGH] and wife, the former being a native of Ohio, and his mother having been born at sea. She [CATHERINE BUMGARDNER RAUDEBAUGH] was the daughter of emigrants {sic} who came from Holland in an early day and settled in Ohio. [NOT TRUE: CATHERINE'S PARENTS REMOVED FROM THE VILLAGE OF Wölflinswil, Canton of Aargau in the north of Switzerland. While onboard the ship APRIL, severe overcrowding caused an outbreak of typhus (called ship’s fever) to become an epidemic that killed more than 400, including the mother of the newborn Catherine.] George was the third eldest child of a family of six children [11 children were conceived], three of whom survive and include:
*William Raudebaugh and
*Mrs. Nancy Locke of Ohio and
*Mrs. Robert Locke of near Hobbs, with whom he has made his home since the death of his mother two years ago.

George's mother was ninety-seven years of age at the time of death and until a few years prior to death, had been able to keep house and care for this son.

The deceased was a member of the Christian Church at Cridersville, Ohio and was a firm believer in the faith and faithfully lived up to the teachings. He was of jovial disposition, despite his afflictions, never complaining of his lot, and bore his suffering with a Christian fortitude and will receive a just reward.

Funeral services will be held at the Christian Church at New Lancaster Tuesday. The funeral cortege will leave the Locke home at 1:30 p.m., reaching the church about 2:00 p.m. Rev. Polly Couch will conduct the services. Burial will be at the Cook Cemetery. NOTE: THE GRAVESITES OF BOTH GEORGE AND HIS MOTHER HAVE NOT BEEN FOUND AT THE CEMETERY, ALTHOUGH ALL DOCUMENTS SAY THAT THEY ARE BURIED HEREIN. hb/2020
