.....George Perkins was not so tenacious in his personal life. George was engaged more than once, and his formidable stepmother thwarted each one. Finally she relented and agreed that he should marry his first fiancee, Evelyn Ball, whose family lived in Cleveland.
The couple was wed in August of 1889, and settled in Chicago, where George took office in the Rookery Building.
