Elbert Kyle
Elbert W. Kyle, 79, of Rt. 1, Elkhart, died Tuesday afternoon in Houston following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the first United Methodist Church, Elkhart, with the Rev. John Barfield and the Rev. Preston Dumas officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart. The body will be at Hassell & Foster until carried to the church.
Pallbearers will be Grady Isbell, Bernie Dodd, A. J. Thomason, Marvin Kyle, Elbert Hortman, Joe Bailey Parker, Kenneth Little and Homer Little.
Native and lifelong Elkhart resident, Mr. Kyle was born Jan. 19, 1891, to the late James Matthew Kyle and Mrs. Laura Little Kyle. Before retiring, he was assistant cashier at the Elkhart State Bank a number of years, and later engaged in farming and ranching. During World War I, he served in the U. W. Army, and he was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church, Elkhart.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Maria) Payne of Houston; a brother, Raymond Kyle of Elkhart; a niece, Mrs. Jean Hawthorne of Houston; a number of cousins.
