Allie Buck Goforth, age 90, of Purlear, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at his home. Allie was born June 3, 1929 in Wilkes County to Albert and Rita Barnette Goforth. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War. Allie helped build Lewis Fork Baptist Church where he was a member and usher. He was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion. His hobby was playing the guitar. Mr. Goforth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Raynard and Merle Goforth; sisters, Aletta Grayson, Melba Cheek and Lucille Jones.

Mr. Goforth is survived by his wife, Helen Ruth Goforth; son, Kim Goforth and spouse Pat of Purlear; daughter, Debra Laws and spouse Bobby of Purlear; sister, Hazel Powell of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Misty Bumgarner and spouse Thomas of Purlear, Melinda Woodruff and spouse Anthony of Hays, Dustin Goforth of Purlear; great grandchildren, Tyler Dancy of Purlear, Austin Woodruff and Ashley Woodruff both of Hays, Brayden Dancy of Purlear; great great grandchild, Oliver Woodruff of Hays and sisters-in-law, Ruth Goforth, Zelma Goforth and Doris Goforth all of Ferguson.

Graveside service with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard Post 1142 will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Lewis Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Dwayne Andrews, Rev. Sherrill Wellborn and Rev. Larry Adams officiating. The family will receive friends at Lewis Fork Baptist Church from 12:00 until 1:00 on Sunday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.
