Mrs. Melba June Goforth Cheek, age 77 of Ferguson, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at her home.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Andrews and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friend's from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Cheek was born June 4, 1938 in Wilkes County, to Albert and Rita Winnie Barnette Goforth.She worked for many years as a Payroll Administrator in the Trucking business, retiring from Critcher Brothers. Mrs. Cheek graduated from West Wilkes High School in 1956. She was an active member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church, where she served on various Committees including the Bereavement and Counting Committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; James Levi Cheek, one brother; Raynard Goforth, one sister; Aletta Goforth Grayson

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, c/o Window World Cares, 118 Shaver Street, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
