Homer was the son of George Henry and Mary Gertrude Bennett Jenkins. His parents are also buried in Garden of Memories. He shares a stone with his wife, Grace Huddleston Jenkins.

OBITUARY: Palestine Herald-Press, Friday, 7 June 1974:

Homer S. Jenkins, 72, a longtime Elkhart resident, died at 5:55 a.m. today in a local hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. in Hassell & Foster Chapel with the Revs. Alton Jones and David Hill officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Elkhart, the remains will be at Hassell & Foster until after chapel rites. Mr. Jenkins, a lifelong Anderson County resident, was born Feb. 1, 1902, at Brushy Creek to the late George Henry Jenkins and Mary Gertrude Bennett Jenkins. He moved to Elkhart from Brushy Creek in 1912. He was a retired Elkhart merchant and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors: His wife, Mrs. Grace Jenkins; a daughter, Mrs. Lucky (Judy Sue) Newton; two brothers, Earl and Ernest Jenkins; a sister, Mrs. Albert (Jewel) Easley; a granddaughter, Miss Kristy LaRae Newton, all of Elkhart; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive condolence calls at the Lucky Newton residence in Elkhart.
